Kathmandu: The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has declared Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's recent visit to China a success, highlighting its potential for Nepal's long-term development.

In a secretariat meeting held on Tuesday at the party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, UML leaders praised the outcomes of the visit, particularly the signing of the framework agreement for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, UML Deputy Secretary Pradeep Gyawali described the agreement as an “epochal achievement” for Nepal’s development.

“The understanding reached between the two ruling parties has paved the way for the successful implementation of the BRI,” Gyawali stated, emphasizing the importance of national consensus in foreign policy. He called for both China and Nepal to expedite the implementation of agreements signed during PM Oli's visit from December 2 to 5.

The party also underlined the strategic significance of Nepal establishing connections with major economic powers like China and India to maximize development opportunities.

Gyawali further noted that the UML has taken the results of the recent by-election seriously, signaling the party’s focus on learning from electoral outcomes while advancing its agenda.
